Both playing and programming are fierce: Drum Battle floats wild horns over rolling 5/4 beats and Loops flirts with all-out modal meltdown over rattling, triple-time drums. But they know when to ease off the throttle, too: They Are We and Not Love are airy ambient ballads, and Thought Not slips into a contemplative groove as heady as rockers like The Hole are physical.
