Album Review

The Great Divide's second album, Break in the Storm, was their breakthrough effort, the record that demonstrated they could blend country traditions with contemporary energy and wit. Led by vocalist/guitarist Mike McClure, the band has a tough, gritty edge that brings out the best in McClure's honky tonk and Bakersfield updates. There are a couple of moments that don't quite ring true on the album, but on the whole, Break in the Storm is Americana and alt-country at its best.

The Great Divide formed in Oklahoma in 1992. Comprised of vocalist/lead guitarist Mike McClure, bassist Kelley Green, rhythm guitarist Scotte Lester and drummer J.J.
