Ben Rector's Christmas collection is short and sweet, and the Nashville singer/songwriter takes a charmingly fresh approach to the classics. His folksy guitar- and piano-based arrangements are pleasantly minimal, his voice is lightly peppy and when the session musicians give themselves a round of applause after completing a spirited "Jingle Bells", they sound like party guests having fun in your living room. Their version of "Away in a Manger" is a soothing lullaby, and closer “Auld Lang Syne” wraps things up on a wistful note.

Nashville-based singer/songwriter Ben Rector makes passionate and melodic, piano-driven, adult alternative contemporary pop. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1986, he studied piano while he was growing up and, by his teens, was also singing, playing guitar, and writing his own music. However, it wasn't until he studied at the University of Arkansas that he began recording his songs. A self-titled EP that Rector released during his freshman year at college caught on locally, and soon he was playing live...
