Awesome documentary / Awesome music

Leonard Cohen music done by Leonard Cohen or anybody else is a tonic any day. Here is the master's music done by some outstanding performers. Ignore this documentary, ignore this album and you will miss the essence and beauty of Cohen's music. The film warms the heart for showing Bhuddism in action: a great man overcomes adversity in the autumn of his life and career and does so with elegance and insight. The album elevates Cohen's music and lyrics to heights never before reached. Jarvis Cocker's rendition of ''I Can't Forget'' is spine-chilling. In the hands of Julie Christensen and Perla Batalla, ''Anthem'' becomes all new, all exciting all over again. Rufus Wainwright's sublime version of ''Everybody Knows'' simply nails you to your seat. The album ends with ''Tower of Song'' by Cohen and U2 _ a deflated, lacklustre number that does no justice to the song's great lyrics. The album could have done without that 16th track. That still leaves the listener with 15 tracks of peerless music. Play them, play them loud for they are gorgeous!
