Description

Castro is a beautiful, full-featured podcast player that makes it easy to track lots of podcasts.

Here’s how it works:

1. New episodes land in your INBOX. Read their descriptions, add episodes you like to your QUEUE, and archive the rest.
2. Press play to listen to episodes from your QUEUE in order. Queued episodes are downloaded automatically.
3. Add to and re-order your QUEUE to plan your next few hours of listening at any time. Browse your ARCHIVE to review your back catalogue of subscriptions, quickly access starred shows, and see your listening history.

With Castro, subscribing to a podcast doesn’t mean making a commitment to listen to every episode. You don’t have manage a huge list of subscriptions or choose a few shows and miss the rest.

The only issue we have with podcasts today? Keeping track of all of the good stuff. Castro acts as our podcast personal assistant. Once we’d rifled through the app’s vast (and we mean vast) offering, Castro helped us prioritise and organise what we wanted to hear—and clear our in-tray by deleting them once we’d listened.

Great potential but lacks cricial features

I used to use Castro as my favorite podcast player about 3-4 years ago. I remember the great design and ease of use. There was one particular feature that made me think Supertop is really awesome, to fast forward or rewind you'd have to tap a certain button, slide left or right without lifting your finger and depending on where you wanted to be taken in the podcast you'd let go. This was simply awesome and so easy, I was extremely disappointed to see this feature be removed a few months later.

This newest version is nice but a bit confusing unfortunately. I greatly welcome the dark mode but it's not really useful when you have to turn it on and off manually all the time, it would be much more useful if it would turn on and off depending on sunrise/sunset.

I'm having some issues too. I tried watching Apple keynotes several times but it keeps loading and loading. I also can't manage to find a download button for offline use like when I know I'm about to enter an area with awful cellular coverage.

I really miss an iPad app, the fact Castro doesn't offer an iPad app will make me stick with Pocket Casts.

I will keep my eye on Castro though, when there will be an iPad app, I'll be back. I'd be happy to pay 3x the current fee for that Castro.

Leaves competition far behind

Does what a podcast app needs to do. Easy to subscribe and order. No crashes or episodes disappearing like with other apps.
