About Dujeous

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We played our first show at Harlem School of the Arts, when we were freshmen in high school. We didn’t know what the hell we were doing, but it was a fun start. What are your top three all-time favorite albums on Apple Music and why? A Tribe Called Quest, Low End Theory Outkast, Aquemini Jay-Z, Reasonable Doubt It’s impossible to sum up the music tastes of a big, unruly band in three albums, but these are three that we not only love but also influenced us to an unbelievable degree when we were coming up. They may seem different, but they all have lyrics with a message—be it about politics, life, sex, whatever—over music that’s dynamic, dense and melodic. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. “Break Bread (Main)” This song represents us really well. It’s a family affair with lots of friends and folks pitching in. John Legend is even singing backup on the hook, recorded back before he put his first album out. That’s the message of the song too, and it really represents us. We’re a band, but we’re really a family IRL. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There are too many of them, but playing the Apollo in 2009 was a big one. There’s also the session we did playing on a beat for Kanye way way back—the song, which was for this singer Young Stuff, never came out, but being in the studio with Ye was hilarious, awesome and insane, all at once. You can hear a snippet of it in Kanye's Jeen-Yuhs documentary. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist? We grew all grew up in NYC, and nothing is better than playing at some of the iconic venues we went to as kids. We still haven’t played together as a band at the top ones. Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Radio City...hope you’re reading this!
