Finding that the grindcore scene wasn't satisfying them musically, Blindspot A.D. bandmates bassist Xandi Fromm, guitarists Steve Hartmann and Andy Rosczyk, and drummer Thomas Klaus began writing instrumental tracks together, soon bringing in Rosczyk's childhood friend, Toby Hoffmann, on spoken word vocals, and forming Ira (which is Latin for "anger"). Though they recorded and mastered their debut album, The Body and the Soil, in 2003 and 2004, it wasn't until 2005 that the record was released in their native Germany, and the year after in the U.S. ~ Marisa Brown
