About Madredeus

The Portuguese group Madredeus, influenced by the music of Lisbon, traveled throughout Europe and became especially popular in Belgium. Their debut album, Os Dias da Madredeus, was released in 1987, trailed three years later by Existir and Lisbon Live in 1992. In 1994, the group appeared in the Wim Wenders film Lisbon Story (Viagem a Lisboa), in which members Pedro Ayres Magalhães and Teresa Salgueiro played quite prominent roles. Two albums, Ainda and O Espirito da Paz, followed in 1995. O Porto (1999), Movimento (2001), and the electronic remix effort Electronico (2002) kept the group active through the early 2000s. ~ John Bush
