In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 1992 an Englishman, Martin Cradick came to our forest camp bringing a guitar and a mandolin. Although I had played guitar before, this was the first time we had regular access to one and I was able to start writing my own songs. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Baka Beyond, Spirit of the Forest Petit pays, Zibi We used to dance to a cassette of Prince Eyango in the moonlight, particularly the track "Les Problèmes. Martin Cradick of Baka Beyond helped us a lot in getting our own music together and Petit Pays looked after us when we were playing in Douala. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Gati Bongo” This was one of the first songs we recorded. It encapsulates our sound well and was very popular all over Cameroon and in USA as well. It even got used on a Zumba Dance X-box game, which has helped us and our families alot. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Music has enabled us to go and see the world. Our most memorable time was flying to England where we toured with Baka Beyond. It was the first time some of us had left the forest, let alone Cameroon. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We have toured other Baka villages in the East Region of Cameroon, but we would love to be able to go on a more extensive tour of the country. Unfortunately transport from our region is so expensive and it is hard to find a serious sponsor.
