Orquesta Revé

About Orquesta Revé

Orquesta Revé is among the most influential groups in Cuban music history. Founded in 1955 by timbalero/composer Elio Revé Matos, they were a training ground for seven generations of popular Cuban musicians. Their sound wed urban son to the folk roots of changüí music from Eastern Cuba that created a new approach to dance music. They recorded dozens of albums beginning with 1968's De Habana a Lima Con la Orquesta Revé. Elio Revé died in 1997 and was succeeded by his son, who renamed the band Elito Revé Jr. y Su Charangon. Their most recent release is 2022's Evolucion 6.5.
