Founded at the time when a groundswell of nu-metal bands began to populate the American airwaves, French band Pleymo captured the style for their native audience, from the popping funk-bass and hip-hop rhythms to melodic choruses and aggressive verses. They released their 2002 second album in two versions, one in French and one in English, and saw sales healthy enough to establish them as one of the faces of modern French metal. Playing international festivals pushed the band’s popularity into new realms. Their third album, ROCK, performed even better than its predecessors and saw the band nominated for awards.
