About Yamon Yamon

Yamon Yamon are a Swedish group whose literate sound, rooted in mid-'90s indie rock and Afro-beat influences, gives a nod to the eclecticism of Vampire Weekend and the introspection of Marching Band. Yamon Yamon formed in 2002 as a collaboration between Christoffer Öberg (drums) and Jon Lennblad (vocals/guitar), who were both studying music in Uppsala, Sweden. Guitarist Joakim Labraaten was brought in as a third member of the group soon after, and the newly formed trio recorded six tracks with the help of producer Daniel Vegerfors. The group underwent a few lineup changes before releasing their first disc; Labraaten eventually split with the group, and bassist John Lindell and guitarist Anton Toorell stepped in to round out the group's sound. Yamon Yamon were picked up by Tenderversion for their 2008 self-titled debut EP. The band's first full-length, This Wilderlessness, was released that same label in early 2010. ~ TiVo Staff
