Album Review

Despite the more personal title of Favorite's third album (Christoph Alex is his real name) and a few lyrics which deal with his traumatic childhood experience (he lost both his parents when he was 12), Christoph Alex is not an introspective record analyzing the German rapper's private life. Mostly produced by Rizba, the album (which reached number four on the German charts) offers Favorite's trademark, anarchic, over the top rants and his provocative sense of humor, aided by Kollegah, Bass Sultan Hengzt, King Orgasmus One, and a few other guests.

Favorite is one of the key rappers associated with Germany's independent Selfmade label. Born Christoph Alex in Essen, Germany, his rhymes were deeply affected by the death of his parents. He went on to live with his aunt and uncle, but also spent time in orphanages. Within a decade of that major life event, Alex became a skilled rapper and signed to Selfmade, where he released his first album, Rappen Kann Tödlich Sein (2005), a collaboration with longtime friend Jason.
