Album Review

SONiA, the vocalist from disappear fear, comes to the plate with a somber and quiet acoustic album, her first. Blowing harmonica and strumming an acoustic guitar, her songs are fleshed out in places with background vocals from Cindy Frank and percussion work and electric guitar from Danny Bernini. Not surprisingly, this solo effort doesn't sound that much different from a disappear fear record, more like a continuum. SONiA's songwriting is sharp and focused, both melancholy and truthful. Her imagery in the tunes here on this disc is solid and sharp, and fans of her group will want to add this one to the collection.
