An album of half studio, half live material (the latter recorded at the Womad Festival), The Culling Is Coming expands on 23 Skidoo's early material but with more emphasis on free-form sound exploration instead of post-punk funk. The lack of a sturdy framework makes comprehension difficult, though the scattered percussion, tape music and screeching horns are intense throughout.

Early compatriots of Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle on Britain's experimental/industrial scene, 23 Skidoo pursued an improvisational fusion of ethnic drumming and post-punk dance on their few recordings of the early '80s.
