A four-track CD EP that expands the "Speed Reaction"/"Jet Pilot" single. Spirea X never seemed quite certain as to its calling, tossing out examples of power pop, shoegazer, and even stripped-down and blown-out lo-fi dance, a good part of which placed the group up close and personal with the Spiritualized axis, perhaps as a result of Jim Beattie's history with Primal Scream. The fourth cut here, "Re:Action," is a clever remix of "Speed Reaction" that propels the group into yet another genre or two. Still, why Spirea X vanished quietly is a bit of a mystery, as the band produced engaging work. Beattie, along with bandmate Judith Boyle, resurfaced as part of Adventures in Stereo in the mid-'90s.

Spirea X was a short-lived dream pop/noise pop act on the 4AD label, spearheaded by ex-Primal Scream member Jim Beattie. The other members of the group were Judith Boyle and Andrew Kerr. In 1991, the group released the Chlorine Dream and Speed Reaction singles, along with the full-length Fireblade Skies.
