Album Review

Corporate Avenger means just what they are called. Lyrics charged with messages about the United States government and angry messages on how taxes are stealing. Corporate Avenger is trying to find truth about the history of America. One thought-provoking lyric from a song called "Evolved" off their first album Taxes Are Stealing says "if men evolved from apes there would be no more apes." The big break for Corporate Avenger came when Cottonmouth Kings started a tour with them in the summer of 2000 and provided the much-needed exposure to get this band off the ground and into the act.

Taking the controversial left-wing politics and aggro metal sound of Rage Against the Machine even farther, Corporate Avenger's blunt, confrontational lyrical critiques of American society were met with a predictable response in conservative quarters. Blending rap-metal and industrial metal with the sort of hardcore punk championed by Crass or Black Flag, Corporate Avenger grew out of Orange County's Humble Gods, where Spike Xavier played bass behind his brother Brad Daddy X.
