Album Review

While saxophonist David McMurray can clearly play, this commercial funk set gives him little chance to show off his musical personality. With electronic rhythms, bits of rap, anonymous backup and forgettable originals, The Dave McMurray Show is a set of instantly dated dance music that offers little of interest to anyone except dancers. McMurray's sax is merely a prop in the ensembles, playing soulful clichés. Better to pick up his later Warner Bros. CD Soul Searching instead.
