A talented improviser blessed with a lovely voice and a wide range, Jeri Brown's expressive powers are heard at their best on this set during her lengthy, wordless interplay with Michel Dubeau's flute on "The Peacocks" and on the two bop-era standards: "If You Could See Me Now" and "Woody'n You." Backed by pianist Kirk Lightsey, guitarist Peter Leitch, bassist Rufus Reid, and drummer Wali Muhammad, Brown does overwhelm "Orange Colored Sky" a bit to humorous effect, but otherwise is in superlative form throughout the impressive date.
