About Anneke van Giersbergen

Born in 1973 in the southern Netherlands town of Sint-Michielsgestel, Dutch vocalist/musician Anneke van Giersbergen is best known as the lead singer for influential progressive metal outfit the Gathering, with whom she recorded six studio albums. After leaving the group in 2007 she formed the group Agua de Annique with husband and drummer Rob Snijders. She has worked with numerous artists, including Devin Townsend, Moonspell, Anathema, and Napalm Death. ~ James Christopher Monger
