As one of the pioneers of Tamil pop music in Singapore, Shabir’s diverse repertoire is largely in his mother tongue. Getting his start after winning reality show Vasantham Star in 2005, Shabir has proved himself a talented vocalist, songwriter, producer and film scorer. He found his outlet in the Kollywood industry where he notably penned skyrocketing hit “Yaayum” for 2019 film Sagaa. The Singapore Youth Award winner maintains his own flair on personal works, often fusing indie pop, electronica and rock with elements of world music and his throaty vocals.
