About Soular

The expansive melodic rock of Soular was born in 2002 out of a collaboration between longtime friends Marsh Shamburger (vocals, keys, guitar) and Jared Ashcraft (bass, vocals). Based in Albuquerque, NM, the guys added drummer Ian Byrd in 2003 and released their self-titled debut soon after, whose single "Why" received some regional airplay. Later that year, Soular won a statewide contest for best new alternative band, and they carried the momentum of this success into a Portland studio in 2004 to record their next effort. The EP Time and Space appeared later that year, earning the band play on college radio stations around the country and staying on the CMJ 200 chart for over two months. Guitarist Brian Lee completed the quartet in February 2005, and Soular stayed on the road through the year's end; over time, they managed to score opening slots for acts like Liz Phair, Vertical Horizon, Longwave, and the Fray. Waiting for Tomorrow was released in the U.S. and U.K. in April 2006; Soular followed up in the spring of 2007 via Astonish Entertainment with Love Crash Heal. ~ Corey Apar
