About The Blue Sky Boys

Formed by North Carolina born brothers Bill and Earl Bolick, the Blue Sky Boys were one of the premier vocal duos of the '30s and '40s and blueprinted the close harmony sound made legendary by the Louvin and Everly Brothers. They recorded their popular ‘Sunny Side Of Life’ for RCA in May 1936. By the end of 1940, they had made almost 100 RCA recordings, including their popularised versions of ‘Mary Of The Wild Moor’ and ‘The Knoxville Girl’. After serving overseas during World War II, Bill and Earl reunited in September 1946, recording their classic, ‘Kentucky’ the following year. Unhappy with record company pressure to update their sound and repertoire, the brothers retired in 1951. In 1963, they were persuaded to record two albums, TOGETHER AGAIN and PRECIOUS MOMENTS, for Starday Records, before retiring permanently.
