About The World/Inferno Friendship Society

Formed in large part from the ashes of New Jersey punk band Sticks And Stones, the self-proclaimed “red-eyed soul” punk-cabaret act World/Inferno Friendship Society settled in Brooklyn, centered around the charismatic persona of frontman Jack Terricloth. Still, its rotating cast of members became virtually impossible to keep up with, generally keeping nine or 10 in the ranks, and featuring members from other notable New York acts such as the Hold Steady. They released three records on Jersey-based indie Gern Blandsten between 1997 and 2002, moving over to Chunksaah for two LPs in the late 2000s. But their reputation predominantly lay in their horn-section-and-piano fueled live revue, as heard on 2003’s HALLOWMAS LIVE AT NORTH SIX.
