Publisher Description

Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy.
Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor.
After a summer in which every one of his mates has succumbed to settling down, or so it seemed, Ringer is on the lookout for a quick exit. Having had enough of the stomach-turning love fest witnessed over the past three months, Ringer jumps at the opportunity to help out his mate, Max, by heading to Max’s dad’s property for a working holiday.
It’s just what he’s looking for. A remote, dusty homestead in Ballan, with only hard work, a cold beer and a comfy bed to worry about – no women.

Until Miranda Henry.

The privately educated daughter of his boss has returned home from overseas and things are about to get very complicated, very fast. As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as ‘enemies with benefits’.

Warning: sexual references, and occasional coarse language.

In Review: Ringer (Summer #3.5) by C.J. Duggan

Ringer is a great addition to C.J. Duggan's series of sexy, swoony, sweet and summery books. This novella was a super quick read and, though it was a complete story that can stand on its own, I was definitely left wanting more at the end.

Ringer, the man, not the book, was a bit sullen and jaded. His friends were all pairing off into relationships and that was the absolute last thing he wanted. To escape (and help out a friend), he offers to spend the summer at his friend's father's ranch. It's there that he meets his friend's sister, Miranda. It's not exactly love at first sight. I wouldn't even call it lust at first sight. There's a certain chemistry between the two. Mainly the one that makes them want to prank and pick on each other incessantly. I loved their banter. Their tricks were creative, too. This novella was just as amusing as it was sexy and sweet. While Ringer and Miranda couldn't possibly be more different, their personalities worked well together and I just liked them. Ringer brought uppity Miranda back to Earth. Miranda made him stop and realize maybe he did really want someone to be with.

There were a lot of things I loved about this book: the setting, the characters and their development, the writing. But, hands down, what I loved the most was the comparison between how the book started and how it ended. Now, I'm not going to ruin anything for you, but there's a great parallel there that left me with a giant goofy grin on my face.

If you like summer romances and whether or not you've read the other books in this series, you have to check this one out. Of course, if you haven't read the other books in the series, you need to get on that. You don't know what you're missing! The Onslow boys are the best.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
