When the son of business tycoon Marcus Randall, washes up on the shore of the Bradshaw River, Detective Madison Knight must sacrifice everything—including her career—to find justice for the "perfect murder".
With Marcus Randall already on the radar of the Secret Service for fraud and counterfeiting, the investigation sheds new light and they require the full co-operation of the Stiles PD. But with power and money to back him, Marcus has a reach that extends right inside the police department.
If Madison's going to find out the truth, she'll have to sort through the lies and balance diplomacy with politics.

“I continue to be surprised at her incredible attention to detail in the "cop" world. Starting with the interpersonal relationships between partners, then dealing with the public and media and Police Departments Administrative bungling. Arnold masterfully portrays how more often than not solving a case in the real world is an incredible act of determination and stubbornness on the part of the detectives. Although Knight is a fictional character, the situations portrayed in "Sacrifice" are painfully real. Arnold then turns her critical eye to the evidence. The techniques and markers mentioned in the novel are also true to life. The constitutional issues of plain view, and fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine all are well addressed and accurately dealt with. I continue to be pleasantly amazed at her attention to detail.”

“Usually it’s hard for me to read cop books without picking them apart, but I read the entire Madison Knight series and I loved them all! The way Carolyn wrote Madison describes me and the way I work and even my personal life to a t.”
Deputy Rebecca Hendrix, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department
“I tend to shy away from Police Procedural novels because I get angry and frustrated at the lack understanding by many authors…I was extremely impressed by the amount of research she must have done.”

The stories are good. Knight doesn't stop even if it causes a riff with others in the department. I wonder if she were a male detective if they would punch their partner constantly. I think not. The author wants her to be a strong, powerful detective, however she still does things that show she's a woman. I enjoyed it when Grant was on his own for a few hours. He is a good detective on his own. Knight also has trouble accepting the jobs others have to do-Blake for example. She feels her job supersedes anyone else.
Good murder mystery with twists and turns.

I love love love the way Ms Arnold weaves the storyline back and forth from the personal life of Madison to her career in solving crime. She is most expert at developing characters and bringing them to life for the reader. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Arnold's construction, odd punctuation and phrasing is awkward, and the charcters' words stilted enough to be distracting from an otherwise very good read- almost as if English is her scond language.
