They say there's a fine line between love and hate.
I married a douchebag.
I didn't know it at the time.
He came in like a handsome stranger and blew me off my feet.
I fell madly in love, like the naive girl I am.
Then he left me high and dry.
Turns out, I was nothing more than a business plan for billionaire playboy, Marcus Tandem.
He needed to be married in order to obtain his grandfathers business, and I was the poor victim in his path.
I believed in what we had, until the truth reared its ugly head.
I never meant anything to Marcus. Not a damned thing.
With my world spinning on its axis, the girl I once was has long since died.
Instead he left me as this empty, emotionless shell.
I may have made a vow before God to love and cherish him ‘Til Death do we part, but it’s time for me to give back to Marcus, exactly what he gave me.
He has to pay.
Well this was a pleasant shocker. This was a different read for me. Katie and Marcus wow. Love hate through it all. Love Katie for holding her own in the world of Marcus. My heart was heavy for the two of them in the world that Marcus lives in. He is the alpha male for sure but how does he fix Katia once she is broken. Can't wait for book two.
An erotic story about a pathetic girl who falls in love with a man who uses her.
It's player meet stupid.
The story is written in the Now and Then from both POVs. I don't like the now and then chapters, it's confusing. Hard to stay focused. It's an erotic story told from Katia's perspective about the sexual encounters with Marcus. Katia is a shallow character who is obsessed with Marcus's looks and his appetite for sex.
Where did the strong-will-powered woman go? In the beginning she knew Marcus was not worth her time and now she's putty. Why is a man like Marcus put on a pedestal to begin with? He is a player who treats women like trash. Why would any woman be pleased to tame the trash man?
Weak pathetic Katia is only concerned with what Marcus can do to her body.
Women like Katia using sex as payment is why men like Marcus use women to begin with.
Using women to gain a business is not a rewarding feeling for a woman. Marcus does not deserve the love Katia gives him. Even when he starts to feel love for Katia he still does not deserve it.
It takes almost losing her and another woman claiming him to make Marcus realize what he has.
Funniest line in the whole story is when Marcus declares he is falling in love with his wife.
Did not care for the storyline and the writing centered on sex. Not much substance other than sex.
Review: 'Til Death, Volume 1
'Til Death by Bella Jewel is the first book in her new series also titled 'Til Death.
In this first installment we meet Marcus and Katia. From the dual POV's we know that Marcus is being coerced into marrying by his recently deceased grandfather via his grandfather's last will & testament. We know all about the why's of what he is doing and it makes it kinda hard to truly HATE him. Dislike? Sure, but not HATE.
"Marcus," I breathe. "You're destroying me. You're taking everything I am and twisting it. You're... ruining me."
"I know, precious," he whispers.~ Katia
Katia falls passionately in love with Marcus but not right away. She doesn't buy into his money and unlike every other woman he's been with, she doesn't lick his boots and acquiesce to his every wish. He definitely has to work for her affections. This makes it hard to be frustrated with her for falling for his BS as he works hard to win her hand in marriage. He really wants his grandfathers company to be signed over to him and NOT Walter, the man currently in charge on paper.
Marcus cannot remain closed off forever and Katia will eventually realize he is just putting on a show. The closer she gets to giving up on him, the more he begins to have feelings for this woman he married. He never intended for her to be hurt and truly believed that he was doing her a favor. He made life easier for her and her sick mother, and while he is using her, he is not deliberately cruel (usually). His walls begin to break down...
I realize, with sudden clarity, that Marcus Tandem is making love to me.~ Katia
It's a shame that life doesn't stay on an upswing. Bad things happen and despite the change in dynamics between the two of them, the secret of Marcus' reasoning behind getting married is revealed to Katia and things go from bad to worse.
"You don't f*^#ing see it, do you, Mack? Even I can see it so clearly now."
I turn and stare at the empty space, the space where my wife was standing only five minutes ago as I ripped her world apart.
"She was everything."~ Marcus
