What follows has all the makings of a contemporary soap opera. As usual, Austen portrays her contemporaries with a brilliant and subtle snark. Emma is a wonderfully entertaining read.

Such an enjoyable novel
I’ve already read Pride and Prejudice and didn’t like it, so I’ve thought that I wouldn’t like this one either. But I was wrong.
It is much fun to read even though it hasn’t much of a story and just focus on Emma’s daily life, a character that was so dislikable in the beginning but through the book manage to be likable enough. The other characters were all nice (even the Eltons) and guessing who would marry who was amusing. 8/10
