Hey there,
This is just a small release to fix a few minor issues in the app. Others call it "bug fixes and performance improvements" but that's not our style.
If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
ps. We don't prompt you for a review in the app because we don't want to take away from your time with our speakers. However, if you are enjoying TED for iOS, please take a moment to rate and review us on the App Store. It really helps us out! -

This release of TED for iOS is focused on accessibility and improving our universal link support. After the last few releases, we are excited to have achieved near 100% VoiceOver support in our app. If you're a VoiceOver or Switch Control user, please get in touch and let us know how we can continue to improve our support for you!
Here's what's changed since our last release:
- The number of search results found will be announced via VoiceOver as you type in the search field.
- When the "Reduce Transparency" accessibility setting is enabled, the contrast between a talk's poster image and any text appearing atop it will be increased.
- The TED logo is now an accessibility element when used in a navigation bar.
- We improved the format of our accessibility labels for the duration of a talk or playlist.
- The structure of accessibility elements on the playlist screen has been improved.
- The accessibility label for a featured talk's play button has been improved to provide more detail and additional context.
- In the video player, the quick seek buttons now have accessibility labels that indicate the seek duration.
- Our audio player is now accessible using VoiceOver and Switch Control.
- Direct manipulation of the video player's playhead position slider is now possible when using VoiceOver.
- Video playback controls will no longer auto-hide after a delay when using VoiceOver or Switch Control. Controls will hide when playback is resumed.
- An accessibility label has been provided for the playlist "Play all" button.
- There was a crash that could occur while rotating an iPad, so we fixed that.
- We fixed a few visual issues in our audio player.
- We improved our universal link support so that any content we can't load in-app will push you to a Safari view.
If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Happy 2018! We are back with a few updates we made over the last few weeks.
- Have an iPad? Want to watch TED talks while doing other things on said iPad? We now support Picture In Picture!
- If you are halfway through a great talk, but need to step away for a bit, we remember your position for that last played talk so you can get back to where you left off with minimal fuss.
- As a video buffers, its progress will be indicated on the playhead slider now.
- The most discerning of eyes will notice that we tweaked our featured talk text layout.
- We put our talk detail page on a post-holiday diet so that it uses less memory.
- When you'd tap on a list of localized talks, we'd show you a "Loading Talks" alert while we fetched the content. If you left the screen, however, that loading indicator would follow you around like the Snowden-bot at TED 2014.
- There was an issue where a opening a playlist from a deep like wouldn't load if it wasn't already cached. We fixed that.
- We fixed a crash that could occur if the video playback controls were updated before a video's duration was known. A bit too eager to show you our great content!
If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

We are coming to the end of the year and starting to think about the holiday season at TED HQ. We wanted to decorate the office plants for the season, but the plant specialists threatened to put us on the Naughty List if we got anywhere near their greenery with our TED Red Christmas lights.
Before we head home for the holidays (and to our Mobile Team party!), we wanted to push out a few small fixes and improvements that we have been working on these last few weeks. There's not really anything that you'll notice specifically—just random bits of code cleanup and improvements to get us ready for some exciting things we have planned for the new year.
Thank you to our passionate fans and app users for another great year. We love building TED's app for you and hope you have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year.
If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
ps. We don't prompt you for a review in the app because we don't want to take away from your time with our speakers. However, if you are enjoying TED for iOS, please take a moment to rate and review us on the App Store. It really helps us out!
pps. For our friends in India, you'll soon be able to watch the talks from our upcoming "TED Talks in India" television show right in the app. Be sure to check back on December 11. -

One of the best features about the TED app is that you can be notified when there is a new talk we are excited about. We wanted to make that an even better experience so we gave it an upgrade for this release. If you have push notifications for TED enabled (and you should!) we now attach the talk image as well as buttons to instantly add the talk to your Watch List for later or to start watching instantly.
That's not the only change in this release. These fixes also made the cut:
- The tab bar should now be the same color as the navigation bar so it doesn't look slightly off on the newest iPhone's fancy OLED screen.
- We fixed a few layout layout issues with the Recent Talks widget on the newest iPhone.
- There was a small gap between the section header and the navigation bar on the playlists screen on the iPhone that looked unsightly. We got rid of it. Sorry, gap.
- There was a very subtle movement of TED Logo on splash screen that only the most keen of eyes would notice. We like to think we have keen eyes, so we fixed it.
- If you ran into issues updating your database it was probably because of a temp file created during the migration that we forgot to remove. We now remove that file.
- There was some weirdness with the splash screen when updating the TED database so we fixed that too.
- You should no longer have duplicate items show up in your Watch History. We know that Adam Grant talks are great, but we don't need to show the same talk in your history twice!
- Fixed a crash that could occur when showing the Recent Talks widget.
- Fixes potential crash when trying to load a Surprise Me playlist.
- Resolved potential crash when showing the audio playback controls on iOS 11.
- We now sign the user out and remove any cached download files as part of resetting the app if it gets into a bad state. We hope you never have to try this feature out!
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Everyone on the TED mobile team just returned from our annual staff retreat in lovely upstate New York. Our staff retreat is an opportunity for all of TED to come together think about where we'd like to go in the next year, be together, and maybe get too competitive with Double Solitaire. We came away with lots of exciting new ideas and opportunities and look forward to sharing them with you over the next year.
Until then, we've got a few fixes and updates to follow-up on our account sync release.
* There were a few visual glitches that showed up when upgrading the app to iOS 11, so we squashed them.
* When your new iPhone arrives, we're ready for it.
* Our push into accessibility continues with support for the Smart Invert Colors feature introduced in iOS 11.
* We fixed a crash that could occur if the app performed a background content fetch in certain instances.
* We fixed another crash that could occur if you tried to restart a download that already in-progress.
* We cut down the frequency that we can refresh our "Talks In" list on the Featured tab because we care about your battery life and our server bills.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Let's not bury the lede: you can now sync your watch list, liked talks, and even your watch history with your TED.com account. Yes, really. This is by far our most requested feature since we launched TED for iOS back in 2010. We're excited (and relieved!) to finally offer this feature to all of our users.
Whether you are signed into your TED account or not, we also keep track of your watch history in app so that you can quickly find that great talk you watched the night before to share with your friends and colleagues. Me? I'm telling everyone about Mei Lin Neo's talk about the fascinating lives of deep sea clams. Fun fact: the TED mobile team loves its sea creatures. I'm patiently waiting for my octopi, team.
In addition to account sync and watch history, we've continued our quest to make the TED app a better accessibility citizen. Specifically, we made several accessibility improvements to the Surprise Me tab to allow VoiceOver users to discover courageous, funny, or inspiring talks from the TED catalog.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

3.2.1
Hello again, TEDsters!
We have something exciting for you all coming very, very soon. But first, we need to do a little housecleaning to get things in order.
* We added 15-second rewind and fast-forward controls to video playback. We don't want you to miss that key point in our next favorite TED talk.
* We show a bit more context when you stream your talks to your Apple TV using AirPlay.
* We now defer to your system settings for showing subtitles. We hope this makes them easier to read for folks that like their text a little bigger than our designers do.
* We made great strides in VoiceOver support in the TED video player. If you're a VoiceOver user, we'd love to hear from you about how we can make it even better in the future. Let us know!
* Our universal link support works again on your iPhone. Have you seen the new TED.com? It looks great.
* We now do a better job at enabling English subtitles on talks that are not natively in English.
* We fixed a few issues where video downloads would never resume after the app was removed from the multitasking switcher.
* We fixed an issue where you couldn't rotate the video player when playing your 'Surprise Me' playlist. That was indeed surprising.
* We added Control Center support for video playback. It's just like our support for audio that we added recently, except for moving pictures!
* Most people say "bug fixes and performance improvements" in their release notes. We just make that a bullet item at the end of our list. We did indeed fix a lot of little crashes and tried to clean up some memory usage throughout the app.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
ps. We don't prompt you for a review in the app because we don't want to take away from your time with our speakers. However, if you are enjoying TED for iOS, please take a moment to rate and review us on the App Store. It really helps us out! -

3.1.1
Hello? Does this thing still work? Sorry for the delay. We seem to have temporarily forgotten our iTunes Connect password.
So. Has anything happened in the world since our last release in November 2016?
. . .
Oh, that's right! TED 2017 in April (A++ would attend again) and WWDC in June!
There's a lot of things in this release you won't necessarily notice. Under the hood changes to stabilize and modernize the foundation to prepare us for a slew of great new things coming later this year and beyond.
The good news is there are also some great new features you _will_ notice.
* We've done a lot of work to improve the audio playback and download experience for our talks. Put those shiny new AirPods to use!
* When playing a talk's audio, we now show information about it in Control Center. Welcome to 2015, TED.
* We've migrated your Bookmarks to a new section called "My List." The developers wanted to call it a queue, but we were told that was a bit too nerdy.
* You can now "Favorite" a talk or playlist that you enjoyed. Tim Ferris's talk from TED 2017 is a personal favorite.
* Your watch list, favorites, and downloads are now stored in our redesigned "My Talks" screen.
* You can now add TED Talks to your Today Screen with our new Recent Talks widget. Want more widgets? We'd love to hear your ideas!
* We added haptic feedback on a variety of actions in the app for those of you with fancy new iPhones.
* We now require iOS 10.
* Congrats Warriors. Sorry again, Cleveland.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Hi there. It's your pals at the TED iOS team again. We know we just talked last week, but we had a few small fixes we wanted to push our before our next scheduled release. We hope they make your TED viewing experience even better. Be sure to check out our latest talks from the likes of Christopher Soghoian, Tim Leberecht, and Kandice Sumner.
Here's what's changed since the last update:
* Opening a playlist from a universal link should be more reliable now.
* Fixed a crasher that could sometimes happen before a playlist was finished loading.
* Indians blew a 3-1 lead.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Happy Halloween! If you see Sia, a bee, Waldo, an authentic Portland hipster, and a Very Nasty Woman knocking on your door, we're trick-or-treating for candy and bug reports.
Here's what's changed since we last talked:
* Cleaned up some cobwebs to make the app run efficiently on iOS 10 and your fancy new iPhone 7 (Jet Black, natch).
* Worse than a haunted house: we migrated our Swift code to Swift 3. When there are TED Talks for software development, we've got war stories.
* Busted a few ghosts and goblins that lingered in the app.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
Love,
The TED iOS Team

3.0.2
Hi. How are you? Is that a new haircut? You look fabulous today. We've got another release of the TED for iOS app for you.
Here's what's changed since the last time we talked:
* We now index your recently viewed talks in Spotlight so you can quickly search for them from your home screen.
* Cleaned up an issue where sometimes Inspire Me wouldn't dismiss its welcome screen after choosing your playlist.
* We are handling errors a bit better when your connection isn't super great.
* Fixed a Googlecast related crasher when enabling Guest Mode.
* We squashed a few smaller bugs and crashes as we always do.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Greetings, TEDsters! We hope you are having a good summer (or winter if you're on that side of the planet). We just got back from Banff, Canada and TED Summit 2016. We are going to be highlighting some of our favorite talks from Summit over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back daily. To help make your viewing easier, we've got a new release of the TED app for you.
Here's a few of the highlights from this month's release:
* The Popular Talks list should now have more fresh, dynamic content.
* Improved the readability and layout of the Talk Detail screen on the iPad. Your eyes will thank us.
* Fixed crash when turning off subtitles.
* Fixed issue where welcome screen would sometimes not disappear after finishing Inspire Me questionnaire. We were too welcoming apparently.
* Fixed formatting of talk duration on Talk Details screen for Arabic speakers.
* Fixed formatting of of minutes on the Inspire Me clock for Arabic speakers.
* Googlecast related strings should now show up as localized.
* We squashed a few smaller bugs and crashes as we always do.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.

Some other changes you'll notice in this release:

* The Featured tab now allows you to swipe between recent and popular talks.
* You can now change your preferred subtitle language in TED settings.
* We've squashed a few smaller bugs and crashes, as we always do.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
We don't prompt you for a review in the app because we don't want to take away from your time with our speakers. However, if you are enjoying TED for iOS, please take a moment to rate and review us on the App Store. It would mean a lot to our team! -
2.7.1
Hi. It's the TED iOS team again. We wanted to push out a few quick fixes for some crashes that were impacting a subset of users before our next scheduled release. You can find the full 2.7 release notes below.
Talk again soon!
====
We hope you've been enjoying our recent talks. The Comma Queen, Mary Norris, is our new personal hero.
This month we've got a pretty great release that will make your TED experience much better.
# New Video Player
The biggest change you'll notice is a fresh coat of paint on the TED video player. The video-watching experience is now more seamless on both iPhone and iPad. It also looks much better.
The new video player also lets you rewind a talk you're watching so you can catch every bit of inspiration.
# Universal Links
The TED app now supports universal links. If you tap on a TED.com link from your mailbox, browser or elsewhere on your phone or tablet, it will automatically open in the app.
# Shave and a haircut
We let our designers take a red pen to the entire app. Line heights were adjusted. Alignments were tweaked.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
Thanks for letting us inspire you. We hope you enjoy this release. -

2.6.3
Happy April, TEDsters! We've spent the last few weeks working on improving the stability and reliability of the app in preparation for some exciting new features and updates we have coming for you over the next few months.
Here's what you'll notice has changed:
* Fixed an issue with the video player not being full screen in landscape mode.
* Talk playback should be more reliable on poor networks.
* Fixed Surprise Me header being cut off on iPhone.
* Fixed a potential crasher in UISearchBar when searching for talks and playlists.
* Fixed a few stability and reliability issues around managing your bookmarks.
We'd love to hear from you. If you run into any issues or have general feedback on our app, email us at contact@ted.com.
Thanks for letting us inspire you. We hope you enjoy the release. -
2.6.2
Hey there, TEDsters. We have a few "bug fixes and performance improvements" we wanted to share with you before our next release.
Here's what you'll notice has changed:
* We fixed a crash on launch some of you were having after a change on our servers. Sorry about that!
* Loading the most recent talks should be much faster. You should watch Tim Urban's talk on procrastination. It's great.
* We heard your feedback! The delete button is back on My Talks for the iPad.
Thanks for letting us inspire you. We hope you enjoy the release. -
2.6.1
We're back from TED 2016 in Vancouver! There were some amazing talks by Al Gore, Shonda Rhymes, and Dalia Mogahed this year that we'd love for you to check out in this fresh release of TED for iOS!
Here's what you'll notice has changed:
* Speaker images should load and cache more reliably.
* We heard some folks were having issues viewing popular talks, so we fixed a bug where the filter button wouldn't appear sometimes as a popover on iPad. Sorry about that!
* We fixed a few weird display bugs that crept in the last release in the iPad video player as well.
* If you watch a talk that is only available on YouTube, we open it in a Safari view rather than our old, weird embedded YouTube player.
* You can now quickly access TED's settings via the My Talks tab.
* Lots of little UI tweaks here and there all around the app. Our designer Brian is a stickler for pixel perfection. We do our best to please Brian.
Thanks for letting us inspire you. We hope you enjoy the release. -
2.6
Happy New Year from TED HQ! We're busy ramping up for TED 2016 in Vancouver (February 15-19) but snuck away long enough to get this release pushed out for you.
Here's what you'll notice:
* All TED talks are now securely streamed through HTTPS for additional privacy. Edward Snowden approved.
* Redesigned the layout of the talk details screen on iPhone and iPad. iPhone users can now see related talks as well.
* iPad Pro! We now take full advantage of your giant iPad, so you can take advantage of all 5.6 million pixels while watching your favorite talks.
* Added a few iPad Pro keyboard shortcuts to the app. Hold down the Command key and see where you can find them.
* You'll notice a cleaner look for the Featured tab with better typography and widescreen speaker images. Your iPhone 6s Plus will be so pleased.
* 3D Touch support! And speaking of your iPhone 6s, we now have a few quick actions on the TED icon you can 3D Touch on to get to your favorite parts of the app more quickly. You can also 3D Touch a talk to preview it.
Thanks for letting us inspire you. We hope you enjoy the release. -
2.5.2
We've been hard at work on adding some great new updates to TED this summer. Here's a few highlights:
* We now feature larger poster images for speakers to better take advantage of your larger phones.
* Gave the talk details screen some much needed TLC.
* Fixed some visual issues with iOS 9.
* Met up in NYC, ate some pastries, schemed for some great new things to release to you this fall.
Thanks for letting us inspire you.
Version 4.5.2
Hey there,
This is just a small release to fix a few minor issues in the app.
