Songs from the Heart was recorded live at County Wicklow’s Powerscourt Estate, and the grand setting gives the performance a sense of occasion—helped by vast accompanying choral, drum, and bagpipe ensembles. Celtic Woman do traditional and pop songs with equal aplomb: “Fields of Gold” is an intimate demonstration of the group's harmonies, while “Amazing Grace” is muscular and full of feeling. The arrangements, too, are impressive: Strings take centre stage in “The New Ground / Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears,” while a choir adds depth to “My Lagan Love.”
