Album Review

Utterly unencumbered by the baggage of his long years in the music business, Winwood reinvents himself as a completely contemporary artist on this outstanding album, leading off with his best solo song, "While You See a Chance." Winwood also plays all the instruments.

Night Train -- person vision

Great album!!!. Night Train and Slowdown Sundown are personal songs for me and I realize that not all out there will share in my enthusiasm of this album. The very second I heard the song Night Train (back in 1975 or so) , I was spell bound and drawn into its very circumference. Well the cassette that I had of this album long ago that I played over and over again in my car into work has bit the dust. I looked all over the place for this album after that. I thank iTunes for allowing me to relive a time when life was "innocent' ... at least for me. This IS a second generation album ... my granddaughter loves this album!!!

This is an old chestnut

See a chance hasn't weathered the years so well-- its strings sound just so 1970's-- but Arc of a Diver holds up much better and Dust is still beautiful.

Still Remember Every Song on this Album!

I used to study to this album and know every song by heart--Night Train and Spanish Dancer are my favs! Love this album still!

As a solo artist, Steve Winwood is primarily associated with the highly polished blue-eyed soul-pop that made him a star in the '80s. Yet his turn as a slick, upscale mainstay of adult contemporary radio was simply the latest phase of a long and varied career, one that's seen the former teenage R&B shouter move through jazz, psychedelia, blues-rock, and progressive rock. Possessed of a powerful, utterly distinctive voice, Winwood was also an excellent keyboardist who remained an in-demand session...
