Calle 13’s eponymous debut put the Puerto Rican stepbrothers on the Spanish-language rap map, making a deep impact on Latin alternative music with their eclectic fusions. So much more than just urban reggaetoneros, Residente’s fastball lyricism alongside the genre-bending compositions of Visitante are an explosive combo. This vibrant LP resonates with imaginative rhymes that slip fluidly between raunchiness (“Tengo Hambre”) and humour (“La Madre De Los Enanos”). The beats are rhythmically lush, yet loaded with street swag, especially on the record’s biggest single, “Atrévete-Te-Te.”
