All sales benefit the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF. Click More below to see details.

Shortly after the release of his All Things Must Pass album in 1970, George Harrison organised two benefit concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden to raise awareness of the troubled situation in Bangladesh. With music from his closest musical friends — Ravi Shankar, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, and Bob Dylan — the resulting album was released in 1971 and is an incredible melding of message and music. From Shankar’s sitar virtuosity, to Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” to the surprise appearance from Bob Dylan — this album makes for a rousing, fascinating listen with an undeniable spirit of goodwill under it all. This collection, now celebrating its 40th year, also contains the original, studio version of the song “Bangla Desh.”

All net proceeds (after taxes), estimated to be at least $15.69 per download of each album, will be donated to the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. iTunes and Apple Records Inc., the artists, the songwriters and the publishers will keep no income from each album sale and have waived all fees. For more information visit www.georgeharrisonfundforunicef.org. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF does not endorse any brand or product. No portion of the purchase price is tax-deductible.

The Concert for Bangladesh

What can I say.... George Harrison and Bob Dylan performing for peace and Bangladesh, as a Bengali myself, I have heard many horror story from my Father who actually lived through that period. This album really brings tears to my eyes. I wish I could meet George in person, but that is not possible anymore... World lost a true talent and we all miss him. Great Album!!!

Biography

Genre: Rock

Nicknamed "the Quiet Beatle" at the height of Beatlemania, George Harrison did indeed seem somewhat reserved compared to the other members of the Fab Four. He favored wry wit to Ringo Starr's clowning, and he never indulged in either John Lennon's penchant for controversy or Paul McCartney's crowd-pleasing antics. He preferred sly provocations to larger-than-life bravado. Harrison's measured, considered persona was reflected in his music, particularly his clean, composed lead guitar parts but also...
