Beating God's Tattoo!

This album is so strong, it has already became a new musical landmark for me. The only reason I can think of as to why BRMC is still not as popular as U2, is because their songs require a bit of time to grow on you, which makes them less likely to play on the radio, or at least mainstream radio stations. And to be honest, that's what I like about this band. The fact that it's low profile makes the music more special to me, and easier to relate to.

When you want to rock, you put Back In Black on. When you want to kill your boss, you put The Downward Spiral on. When you want to go to space, you put Ok Computer on. When you feel all of the above, you put any BRMC album on.

When you do not know how you feel and want the music to tell you... you put Beat The Devil's Tattoo on.

This album is so raw and dirty, I can smell the dirt and feel the sunburn on my neck. This is one hell of an album!

A true masterpiece that redefines the perfect album.

actually good music

One of the best albums i've herd in a long time.

Solid album!

This album is almost like a greatest hits album, except they are all new songs! I was a little disappointed with their last effort Baby 81, which although it has some very good tracks, I felt the production was a little 'slick'. Beat the Devil's Tattoo draws inspiration from their own back catalogue, including their stellar eponymous debut, while also showcasing the craft they have developed over the years on subsequent albums. The depth and complexity of the album as a cohesive whole, rewards repeated listens (many in my case!). Enjoy!

The seed that became Black Rebel Motorcycle Club -- or BRMC for short -- was planted in 1995, when Robert Levon Been (aka Robert Turner) and Peter Hayes met while attending high school in San Francisco. The two formed a solid friendship and a shared camaraderie based on a mutual love of early-'90s U.K. bands like Ride, the Stone Roses, the Jesus and Mary Chain, and My Bloody Valentine. Despite such similar tastes, both joined different bands -- Hayes spent time in the Brian Jonestown Massacre circa...
