one of my all time favourite albums

i had always loved the movie but up until 1994 only a symphonic version of the soundtrack was available. once this finally came out it quickly became one of my favourite albums. fans of synthesiser and or ambient music will love this. my personal favourite tracks are Rachel's Song and Memories of Green but the entire disc is terrific. i'm not really a fan of Vangelis' other work but I absolutely love this and never get tired of it. moody and atmospheric, cold and bleak just like the film.

Voices Over is a Bad Choice

I have seen this movie over 20 times, so I didn't need to voice over to remember the scenes to the music. Don't forget that Riddley Scott had acutally intended Blade Runner to be without a narrator, which was forced on him by the producers. It then does not make any more sense to add voices here. I should have read the warning before buyung...

This is not the original Vangelis release!

Buyer beware. I bought the original when it came out after the movie on LP (not 12 years after - as this main review states incorrectly) - this is NOT IT! On the original there were no voice overs, and the tracks were EXACTLY as they are in the movie, but as songs, with no extra sounds or vocal overdubs. The song ' one more, kiss dear' on the original is performed beautifully by a female singer without the harshness of this recording. There are some good original sound recordings here, yes, but whoever mixed it didn't review the real original without consideration, or just didn't realise there was one.

Born Evangelos Odyssey Papathanassiou in Volos, Greece on March 29, 1943, his nascent musical talent was recognized at an early age, but he refused to take piano lessons, instead teaching himself. After high school he formed the early-'60s pop group Formynx, soon the most popular act in Greece. After achieving stardom at home, Vangelis...
