iTunes Editors' Notes

The sexiest album of 2012 just got an upgrade. The "Paradise" edition of Lana Del Rey’s debut LP, Born to Die, includes all 12 original tracks plus the deluxe edition’s three bonus cuts. Add to this a generous nine extra songs, previously unreleased. The opening single, “Ride,” plays like an orchestral continuation of Del Rey's debut. Over lush string arrangements and ether-soaked backing vocals, she coos in her languorous tenor with a regal sleepiness—as if she tracked her vocals from a fainting couch. Even when hitting a falsetto during the closing chorus, Del Rey sounds medicated and aloof. This seeps into “Body Electric,” where she sings like a film noir starlet on her deathbed. Her intentionally demure vocal style fits the haunting cover of “Blue Velvet” like an elegantly tailored prom dress from the '50s. With an eerie period-correct mix, this arresting version of the song begs for David Lynch to direct either a prequel or sequel to his 1986 mystery film by the same name. Her weakness for bad boys extends into the sultry closer, “Burning Desire.”

I Love Lana Del Rey!

So much controversy over Lana Del Rey. Some say she's terrible live, but in a market of autotune and stage performance, Lana Del Rey is not your typical pop star. She's loved and hated. Personally I think she is awesome! A modern day Nancy Sinatra meets Stevie Nicks! She seems to be obsessed with old vintage Hollywood and dying. I hope I can see her live one day. I love all the new songs on the "Paradise" compilation. I noticed she redoes "Yayo" which is an old song from her Lizzy Grant days! Very cool! Fan favourite "Body Electric" is also included and of course the amazing cover of "Blue Velvet"! In "Cola" she gets explicit saying "Her p*s*y tastes like pepsi cola" LOL! Love it. If your a fan of Lana Del Rey you'll love this.

Almost A Year...

I know I heard of Lana Del Rey the first time she ever made it to the music industry. I think she is something original and brilliant. When the first Born To Die album came out in Jan of 2012, I never wanted to buy it, because I thought I wouldn't get much value, but then I heard about her Paradise Edition, and I wondered, you know, I'll wait for this big purchase, and I have, for almost a year, and it was worth it. I love her, she's got such a great voice when she sings live, and she sits a top her own original throne. She's great, I love her music.

Amazing

I'll admit, for the longest time I judged Lana Del Rey based on her preformance on SNL and I said I didn't like her music, but then I stumbled upon 'National Anthem' and became obsessed. Her voice is the most perfect thing I have ever heard and it is very unique.

Must listens include 'Summertime Sadness', 'Off to the Races', 'National Anthem', 'Ride' and what the hell, all the other songs on this album as well. IT IS SO GOOD.

And I'd like to apologize to Lana for judging her based on one preformance. She is amazingly talented and definitely one of my favourite artists.

Vocalist Lana Del Rey makes atmospheric, orchestral, retro-'60s-sounding pop that showcases her torchy image and sensuous singing style. A native of Lake Placid, New York, Del Rey released both the "Kill Kill" single and a 2010 debut album under her given name, Lizzy Grant, tagging the album "a.k.a. Lana Del Rey."
