Editors’ Notes

It was a whisper that turned into a scream, a tipping point in rock ’n’ roll history. Nevermind—Nirvana’s sculpted symphony of reckless guitar, bass, and drums nailgunned to some of the most oblique yet thoughtful lyrics of all time—awoke a generation of latchkey kids gorged on broken promises and ushered in the alt-rock nation. “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Come As You Are,” “In Bloom,” “Lithium,” and “Breed” are corrosive anthems that ignited a movement, slammed shut a decade of excess, and catapulted the underground into the mainstream.

Customer Reviews

Classic

Best grunge album ever made. One of the few albums I genuinely think are perfect.

NEVERMIND!!!!

L'album phare du mouvement grunge, l'album qui a défini le genre. Voice of 90's youth

An amazing album by a band who represents the zeitgeist of the early 90's.

Nirvana popularized punk, post-punk, and indie rock, unintentionally bringing them into the American mainstream like no other band to date. While their sound was equal parts Black Sabbath (as learned by fellow Washington underground...
