Bought in protest

I'm gay and I'm also buying this in protest of the CBSC ban.

In Protest

I downloaded "Money for Nothing" in protest to the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council decision. 25 years later and after only one complaint they ban the song from the airwaves. Are they kidding me? Great song.

Buy for title track

the entire album is full of great songs. Money for nothing, your latest trick, and the man's too strong are all amazing. But the real masterpiece is the title track. Definitely buy this one.

Dire Straits emerged during the post-punk era of the late '70s, and while their sound was minimalistic and stripped down, they owed little to punk. If anything, the band was a direct outgrowth of the roots revivalism of pub rock, but where pub rock celebrated good times, Dire Straits were melancholy. Led by guitarist/vocalist Mark Knopfler, the group built their sound upon the laid-back blues-rock of J.J. Cale, but they also had jazz and country inflections, occasionally dipping into the epic song...
