About The Tandoori Knights

Following Arish Ahmad Khan's various musical projects can get a bit bewildering, as can the various names he records under, including Blacksnake and King Khan. Khan isn’t one’s garden-variety anything -- born in Canada of Indian descent, he somehow ended up fronting a ragged garage soul outfit out of Germany that looks and sounds like it stepped out of a John Waters movie. Whether recording and performing as the King Khan & BBQ Show, the Black Lips, the Almighty Defenders, King Khan & the Shrines, or under some other moniker, Khan has produced a remarkably consistent brand of spicy, skewed rockabilly soul. He teamed with Bloodshot Bill (as the Tandoori Knights) to record the brilliantly ramshackle Curry Up album for Norton Records in 2010. ~ Steve Leggett
