Great energy. Love it!

Great Record - beyond just metal

The cover for this says "Extreme Soundtrack Metal" wasn't sure what to make of that until I sat and listened to the full record. It's atmospheric but catchy, at times it really does sound like a soundtrack and it's cool how one song just flows to the next. I found it really interesting as it has it's moments of awesome fast metal but it's got all sorts of changes and emotion evoking slower pieces that really make this record super dynamic. I have to say another cool thing is that my girlfriend actually will listen to this record with me (she is not a a huge metal head), but she truly enjoys it, which is great for me and we have even found it great for cranking on road trips!

Amplitusion - Darth Brutalis Review

It is as if George Lucas slept with Metallica, then nine months later, Darth Brutalis was born. Amplitusion’s debut album gives birth to an exciting energy inspired by the fusion of Heavy Metal and Symphony. As far as the arrangement, production & mixing go, this album brings its A-Game, as it delivers over 78 minutes of crisp, pristine & unique sounds backed by rich textures and explosive, but memorable compositions. My personal favorite is “Mantisinthesis”. I cannot be sure whether or not they looked to Evanescence for inspiration, but damn, the emotional impact on this one is beyond belief. Mantisinthesis (very tastefully) relies on the use of heavily reverberated female vocal samples to drive the song’s dark and ominous mood. Even more interesting is that this track steps back from your stereotypical over-the-top and intensive Heavy Metal drum line, and chooses to focus on a simpler rhythm. If you ask me, I think it provides for a great change of pace. It certainly gives the listener an opportunity to really digest and intake the song for all that it has to offer. So, if you are ever looking for the perfect song to cry to after experiencing a rather gut-wrenching and horrific day, look no further. Mantisinthesis is it. My whole life, I have never been big on the Heavy Metal scene. I always found the genre to be a little too explosive for my liking, especially since the lyrics are always very difficult to make out and every instrument feels like it stays in overdrive. BUT, Amplitusion’s Darth Brutalis experiments with so much more instrumentally, melodically, and vocally. It maintains great depth and has soul, as it pushes the boundaries of Heavy Metal as a genre by integrating orchestral sounds. So, needless to say, I would strongly recommend this album to all those who are and are not Heavy Metal fans.
