Great, but not a "reunion".

The album is solid from start to finish. It should have been titled "Van Halen 1.5" because that's exactly where it could fit into the chronology.

Notably absent though, is Michael Anthony's backing vocals. Say what you want about the man, he's an original member and without him this is not a true reunion.

Not re-inventing the wheel

Good stuff but nothing new here. " She's the Woman" sounds a lot like "She's My Machine," "Bullethead" reminds me of "Mean Street" and "As Is" reminds me of "Loss of Control." Its not as over the top as DLR's solo stuff. Eddie seems to be using more guitar effects too but I still LOOOOOVE it. The tone. Mmmmmmmm. Welcome back guys. Dont make me wait another 30 years.

Gimme something to write on man.

I like to think this album is "high velocity folk music". It's a combination of religion and hockey.

It was wildly inventive and over the top, equaled only by vocalist David Lee Roth, who brought the role of a metal singer to near-performance...
