Without the music, Dirty Dancing might have been just another ‘80s rom-dram, but the mix of soft-lit original songs and irresistible ‘60s pop resulted in cinematic magic. The hits—a Jennifer Warnes/Bill Medley duet (“I’ve Had the Time of My Life”), Eric Carmen’s gravelly serenade “Hungry Eyes,” and Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind”—bring us back to the film’s 1987 release. But the soundtrack’s classics take us back further—to a steamy summer at Kellerman’s resort, where Baby and Johnny groove to a dizzying cocktail of cross-generational nostalgia.
I was not born in the generation of when this movie was made nor the time that it was being portrayed, actually i just saw this movie for the first time yester day, and until then i had never really had an urge to watch it but my mom talked me into it and so we sat down on the couch and watched it, and it was by far the the best movie i have ever seen, and the music was even better... so if you havent seen the movie i suggest you watch it. and then buy the soundtrack
i was 10
i can remember being 10 thinking this was the greatest movie ever!!! Patrick was so hot, the dancing was so HOT!!! i so badly wanted to go to Kellerman's. i even got a tattoo of the quote " nobody puts baby in the corner" this movie truely was a coming of age movie for me and i'm sure many many other girls. A++++ movie for sure a classic <3
Oh the memories....
It was 1987 and my raging 7th grade hormones were running wild - they had to be to think Patrick Swayze was the hottest man to ever live - when really he is old enough to be my dad....ick. Regardless, when I hear these songs it really takes me back.
