Chunk with a heart

thirteen years later and it's still hard to top Downset's self titled album. a killer fusion of metal and rap. with solid musicianship, thought provoking lyrics and powerful vocals, Downset provides a glimpse of life 'in the hood' - not just the bleak, but also the hope that flickers and burns in hopeless places. hope for justice, change and a better day. Downset's EP and handful of albums have been worth every penny and get a lot of play on my pod. memorable, fierce poetry, chainsaw guitar, thundering bass and crisp drums - a nice combo while stuck in traffic and for those late nights at the office. i just wish that Rey and the boys were a bit more prolific.

If you were around back then, and had your album stolen at a party like I did mine, then you may need this for reference and the occasional headbang session when your wife is at work but otherwise seek out the Judgement Night soundtrack for some great rap-rock combos.

Composed of vocalist Rey Oropeza, guitarists Ares Schwager and Rogelio "Roy" Lozano (the latter of whom has also worked as Cypress Hill's touring guitarist), bassist James Morris, and drummer Chris Lee, Downset perfected...
