A studio album, and Loreena McKennitt's first foray into self production, 1985. When there was supposedly no market for Celtic and harp music, she created one, with the music from this self produced and marketed cassette. Some of the compositions, as on her other albums, was first produced for the Stratford, Ontario, Shakespeare Festival, such as "Lullaby" here, with Douglas Campbell's resounding voice. The audio has some imperfections, as the technical apparatus for transfering a stage production, with an immense range, was still being ironed out; nevertheless, the lyrics, and harp work, with the introduction of bird calls, and nature sounds, along with the Celtic mythology and traditional material, which has become the hallmark, of Loreena McKennitt's work, is still haunting, and stirring.

Loreena McKennitt's literate and sometimes experimental focus on Celtic-tinged traditional and original material, coupled with her haunting harp playing, has made her Canada's national chanteuse and new age troubadour since she broke through to prominence in the mid-'80s. The daughter of a nurse mother and a livestock-trading father, McKennitt studied classical piano and voice and learned to dance in the highland style as a youngster.
