Customer Reviews

Gosh I miss this genre of music soooo much.
While Massive Attack released a new album this year, being alittle bit less musical than their roots.... I found this album
with the re-gouped Morcheeba to be almost too much rooted in their past catalog.
The songs sound like most of Morcheeba has done already.
using the same loops and beats over and over and over...
Even Though is a good track, and Mandala shows that the group could be musically progressive but prefer to stick to the same sound.
Still something new in an otherwise empty genre.

Really good... just not quite "Big Calm"

Welcome back Skye - I missed your beautiful voice.

Like the title of the review says, this is a nice return to form for Morcheeba and while I don't think it matches the greatness of their album "Big Calm", it's still a very good album. Much like their peers Massive Attack and Portishead, Morcheeba makes music that can give you the sense of the importance of the moment, almost like you might have been teleported into a movie and they are the soundtrack. Enjoy.

Skye's Back?!? WHAT? Un-freakin Real!

I am so excited about this album! When Skye Edwards left and Paul and Ross brought in a new vocalist Morcheeba died for me. I was onboard with fragments of freedom and even charango. But without Skye the group lost their vibe.

This new album is just like the group says...the album they should have mad after big calm. It's groovy, vibey and anyone that says it's rehashed Morcheeba should shut up.

Zero7 Lost me when they decided to try pop and got stupid with The Garden and their latest album. But Morcheeba just made up for it with this new album.
Soo happy!

Formed: 1995 in London, England

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

The most groove-oriented act in the mid-'90s female-fronted electronica crowd, Morcheeba rely on the sweet, fluid vocals of Skye Edwards and a laid-back mix of fusion, funk, and blues produced by brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey on beats/scratches and guitar/keyboards, respectively. The trio was formed in 1995 when the Godfreys decided to go out on their own after co-producing six tracks for David Byrne's album Feelings. They submitted several tapes of their instrumental demos to labels around London,...
