Farm & Fun Time was the name of the radio program for which these transcriptions were recorded in 1949, and this series of CDs preserves the programs in their entirety. The songs are generally abbreviated versions, sometimes barely a minute in length, as necessitated by the format. Unlike the On Radio series, the Farm & Fun Time transcriptions include only brief spoken intros without comedy skits or advertisements. The songs covered range from parlor tunes and traditional folksongs to breakdowns and novelty material, all featuring the Blue Sky Boys' excellent close harmonies.

In the '30s, brother duets were common in country music: Among the better known were the Monroes, the Delmores, the Dixons, and the Carlisles. Bill and Earl Bolick, who in 1936 were ready to make their first recording, followed their producer's suggestion that they should be different by avoiding the word "brother."
