Album Review

The 30 tracks on this inexpensive import are mostly steel guitar instrumentals taken from 1950s transcriptions discs of Tennessee Ernie Ford's radio show. Tennessee Ernie introduces nearly all of the selections and sometimes banters with West, and guitarist Jimmy Bryant appears on a half-dozen tracks. The sound quality is a little flat, and the performances not as sprightly and engaging as Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant's Capitol recordings, but There's Gonna Be a Party provides an entertaining program of rarities for true believers.
