All is forgiven

The first thing that struck me as I listened to the 3 songs that were available pre-release was how un-unified they were, and that had me worried. What I loved most about YFIP was that it sounded like a story unfolding in chapters, each track following like a natural consequence of the previous one. I was concerned that FRR may not have this 'cohesive' quality, as it turns out, I could not have been more wrong. A huge piece of what is becoming my growing love for FRR is the fact that songs are so random, yet they still belong to eachother, just in a totally different way.
World Sick is a great example of conversational interplay between guitars, Forced to Love is organized chaos at it's best, Water in Hell will surely be my summer anthem, Romance To The Grave is a phenomenal example of what BSS is capable of and then there's Meet Me In The Basement.
Meet Me In The Basement, I instantly fell in love with the un-Peroff percussion colours, rhythms and sounds that add such depth to what is clearly the most well developed and well produced track of the whole thing. It is quickly becoming my favourite song of all time.
It's no YFIP, but that's the point right?

Everything I Expected

Another great release from a spectacular group. Each member adds their own flavour to various songs making them feel a bit chaotic at times but this is what I have come to love about BSS. By far one of the best tracks on the album is All To All. This song gives me shivers when I listen to it with headphones on. More can be said but i'll keep it short. Just buy this album because you are sure to enjoy it!

Masterpiece

I thought topping 'You Forgot It In People' was an impossible task. This album could quite possibly do it with a few hundred more listens.

Broken Social Scene materialized in 1999 when K.C. Accidental's Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, formerly of By Divine Right, bonded their friendship into a band. They spent the next few years honing an atmospheric rock sound in their native Toronto and the dynamic was great. Feel Good Lost marked their debut album in 2001 and introduced a revolving cast of Canadian indie musicians. Drew's fellow mate from Do Make Say Think, Charles Spearin, was added to the band, as well as Evan Cranley (Stars),...
