One Hell of a Little Masterpiece

I have been a long time fan of Dallas Green, so I was expecting this album to be good. I had goosebumps 10 seconds into the 30 second preview of "We Found Eachother in the Dark". The growth that Dallas has experienced as an artist is wildly evident when you compare "Little Hell" to "Sometimes", the songs of Little Hell are intricately layered and complex. Even the songs that are more up-tempo have a heightened sense of maturity when put beside Dallas' older hits like "Waiting..." Dallas' voice on "Little Hell" is as haunting as ever and the production is perfect. The songs on this album push the listener to think beyond the entertainment value of the music, and inspire emotional, even philosophical thought. Dallas Green is truly a Canadian gem who proves that after three solo albums, he is doing exactly what he is meant to be.

Definitely not "Sometimes"....

I consider myself to be a certified Dallas Green fan boy, but this album just isn't working for me! I fell in love with the guy who performed with only his acoustic guitar and sang songs that seemed directly pulled from my life experiences. More and more I find the lyrics so literal and increasingly difficult to connect with. What happened to the beautiful metaphors? Despite my disappointment, I will continue to support a great Canadian artist by purchasing this album. Here's hoping the next album borrows more heavily from "Sometimes".

Born September 29, 1980, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Green served as a member of Helicon Blue before co-founding Alexisonfire in late 2001. Despite scant radio airplay, the band developed a strong fan following on the strength of their ferocious live shows, and their 2004 sophomore LP, Watch Out!, debuted in the Canadian Top Ten. At year's end Green issued...
