iTunes Editors' Notes

Taking his name from the real-life '80s-era Florida kingpin, Rick Ross has had an interesting career path. After paying dues with the Southern labels Suave House and Slip-N-Slide, he blew up nationally with his 2006 solo album, Port of Miami. It debuted at No. 1, as did its pair of follow-ups: Trilla and Deeper Than Rap. God Forgives, I Don't is his fifth album, which continues his steez of epic storytelling and cinematic production (from J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Jake One, Cool and Dre, and Pharrell, among others), plus huge collaborations with the likes of Andre 3000 ("Sixteen"), Dr. Dre and Jay-Z ("Three Kings"), Usher, Ne-Yo, Omarion, Wale, and Drake. Another impressive release from one of hip-hop's biggest mega-stars.

Rick Ross always has to rely on a heavy bass beat or a guest feature to keep people distracted from what he's saying in his songs....too bad it doesn't work, and his rapping is still embarrassing to hear.....50 Cent - Street King Immortal 11/13/12

While Atlanta and Houston artists were establishing their cities as Southern strongholds, Ross aimed at putting Miami back in rap's national spotlight.
